For the Manchester exhibition I shall be presenting a costume design i have hand-made. Accompanied by a series of images which were photo-graphed by collaborative photographer Heather Morris. The theme of the dress is mermaid and the images were produced for a fashion editorial for my website. The images I shall present along side the dress are my personal edits of the images from the collaborative photo-shoot.
From a young age and from the influence of a very creative mother i would produce small textile works. It wasn't until secondary school that i got into graphic design continuing it up until studying a level fine art and then continuing onto a foundation course specialising in visual communication. I knew through-out my education it was graphics i wanted to go into and went on to my current studies graphic art and design at degree. I like to get involved in anything creative and as a neutral media artist i tend to come up with ideas and use which of the arts i think fits best. A lot of my work includes textiles having produced textile works for festivals like shambala, to presenting a fashion editorial featuring an antique dress in light boxes at the Leeds urban outfitters store. Im also a keen photographer and enjoy filming. My work can be quite dark and is very fantasy based and i like to promote natural beauty and positiveness, my work can also be quite political at times.
