'Untitled' - Installation

Originally from Kendal, Aishah Burrows is currently studying a BA (Hons) Fine Art at Leeds Metropolitan University. Although she works in an ecliptic mixture of mediums, her recent Erasmus stay in Tallinn has intensified her interest in working with sculpture and installation. Her installations often explore the notion of the Outside through gesture and language; questioning and reacting to today’s society and giving the audience the chance to escape their daily lives to jump into an alternative mind.

For 1978 Burrows is reflecting upon the sobriquet ‘Cottonopolis’ that Manchester has acquired due to its historical textile trading industry, and how it has sculpted the city over the years. The installation, made from cotton and adhesive, invites the audience to walk within this triptych of poetry – opening a window into late 20th Century living.
