In the 1970's/80's Manchester's population was suburbanised as the public sector policies were designed to clear the 18th - 19th century slum areas as an attempt to re-generate the city, consequently adding to the urban decay that was invading the city at the time as the population decreased. '192' is an investigation of the generation that left Manchester city centre for the countryside. Starting in Marple, Stockport the sound piece is aimed to take the listener on a historic journey in Manchester as they experience the change in surroundings and people. 40 years on Manchester is now one of the most multicultural cities in Britain outside of London and boasts around 200 languages in the city. '192' portrays this naturally on a geographic level as the journey and piece develops.

Throughout my practice I aim to challenge the audience's role in my work and questioning what is more imporant, the audience or the work itself. I practice this through playing with the viewer's senses and the impact the environment has on their experience. This is constantly challenged mainly through the medium of video, installation and performance. Due to this I often find my work to be site specific as I take advantage of the surroundings and use it as a stimulus to generate work.
